Default What clutch for a a big power escos

I wondering what clutches people were using on big power cossies as i have recently fitted a twin plate ,and toasted it almost straight away
so was looking for options as will so be mapping more boost and dont think a six paddle will hold it. Its a road car ,with some strip action.

Twin plates are fine just dont do big launches with them slipping as they cant handle the heat.

not sure of clutch kit origon , it a quarter master twin plate managed to over heat it launching ,have got to be more brutal and launch with no clutch slip going to f~ck more diffs and drive shafts though.

Not true, the twin plate fitted to my car will take repetitive launching and 800ft/lb of torque but has very nice road manners.

My clutch is not the same size as yours... Yours uses 7.25" plates mine uses 8.5"... Having said that my previous car used the same clutch as yours and did at least 10 runs back to back at Brunters resulting in a 2.8 0-60 and the clutch didn't fail.

The two clutches for comparison, the larger one is only available from myself..

so your going to run a six paddle , got to be honest mine was running 480bhp plus a shot of gas and holding fine but that was only with 1.9bar of boost going up to 2.4 soon and a bigger shot of gas so whated to be sure it would hold

It is true, They will not take lots of slip, Launch correctly and you will have no problems with them, Bodge launch's and you will kill them.

If you can launch correctly they will last, If you get lots of slip then you need to cool them down and dont do it repetedly.

No, the smaller one is a 'rally' type plate. The six paddle version is the AP type.

I only speak from experience but sadly I have only been using these clutches on 4x4's for about 8 years so take what I have said with a pinch of salt

as i stated im not in anyway douting your advice as im in no persition to do so ,will be using the twin plate and trying to slip it a little less as i know it was my own fault i over heated it, just do nt like just dumping the clutch as im sick of breaking things

Obviously if you slip the life out of any clutch the end result for the clutch is not going to be good! But if you think that I side step the clutch to get results then consider this.. There is a video if me launching my car time after time at Brunters but on one run I manoeuvre the car to get it ready to launch but stupidly leave it in reverse I launch the car but it only creeps backwards about one foot as I was able to detect the car was travelling in the wrong direction, that alone means I slip the clutch off the line! I suppose it depends on how much slip is used.
