The Sale of my cossie
Well thanks to all on the advice on me selling the car. Did not think it would turn out to be such a nightmare.
Listening to the comments I accept that its just after christmas, but does it matter what time of year it is, if your in the market to buy a car. Looking at other cossie's for sale there are some fantastic examples and I really felt quite gutted as when i look at mine, i feel that although mine in my eyes is mint, so are all the others.
I would welcome peoples views on what they would price this car of mine for sale as i really do not understand the market and how it works. The car was brought on impulse as it was my dads, but its turned out to be a nightmare from start to finish.
For me i would consider dropping the price on the car for a quick sale but also need to sell the car as my new project is waiting to be paid for.
If anyone could give some detailed advice on what they think the car is worth, i would be greatfull.
Gareth

The trouble with cars like Evos, Scoobys & Cossies is that they're an Enthusiast car, which means you need to have a certain amount of luck or good timing to sell them easily. As said some cars will go just like that & others won't. Who knows why.
Have you tried some of the Cosworth / RS traders who might take the car off you for a sensible price. You don't want to just give it away !!
Good cars can go from anything from £13K upwards, but alot depends on peoples interpretation of good/excellent condition.
Hope you get what your after for it.

It seems a nice car to be sure. Im currently saving for an Escort Cossie and have been for about 8 months. Im not in a posistion yet to buy, however from a potential buyers point of views I have a few things that I might find off putting, but then again I am quite particular. Please take my comments as constructive as your car looks immaculate and very cared for.
Suggestion 1. Cosmetics
M3 Mirrors, to me personally I can't stand them. I think you would fair better if you replaced them with the original big turbo mirrors, or even small turbo mirrors. It's a marmite thing, it might be those that put some people off.
Wheels, some people might not like them, some might, would limit your options. I think maybe if you sold them and replaced with original Escort Cosworth rims or more mainstream aftermarket rims (Engels, SuperTs etc)it would be more appealing to a wider audience, and those looking for a factory-ish car.
Suggestion 2. ICE
I personally love ICE, and the kit you have sounds very reasonable. But when people start reading about big ICE installs etc, amps they can get horrors of hacked about wiring and bodged installs. Im not once implying yours is, but when I look at a car, it's something that always crosses my mind. Take the amps out, sign up to www.talkaudio.co.uk and sell them. Get some money back. You would get quite a bit from the kit. ICE is down to taste, it's not just about the kit, 90% of a good ice install is in the installation.
Also with the ICE, people think they are paying extra for the car because of the ICE. Again if people don't like ICE they might pass your car over because they don't want to pay a premium for something they will only remove afterwards.
Suggestion 3. Badges
My biggest pet hate is incorrect badges/spacing on the back of cars. Sure they look great, but people looking for originality might think hmmm. I sometimes onder why they badges have been replaced? Re-sprayed or new tail-gate? - Again not implying anything about your car, but these are thoughts people would think.
I hope you can take these suggestions as helpful advice, I was in the same situation with my MK6 RS2000, I removed lots of aftermarket items, made back over £1000 and sold the car for £300 less than my original asking price.
I personally like your car alot, and if I had the money I would be paying you a visit to check it out. Sadly i don't yet
I can see you need to sell your car, so I would try and make it available to the biggest audience you can.
Best of luck.

Many thanks for the suggestions there mate.Have removed the badges from the car and placed the new ones in the correct sequence.
The M3 mirrors have been removed and late spec small mirrors fitted, regarding the I.C.E this has been installed by Uplands Radio, although now being honest and fair its not to my taste and could do with a new boot build as the current one is a number of years old.
Still have no takers and at the moment the car is in the paintshop being machined polished and having the silly fuel cap that was alloy removed.
Its my aim to then have the car paint treated and a full vehicle detail carried out to give it the shine she deserves.
Regards
Gareth

Without a shaddow of a doubt the car has to go as i have my new toy waiting and a new business venture in the pipeline, so for me this is my only option.
I thought about breaking the car and i know i dont want to see aother one go to the scrap yard in the sky.

sounds like your getting desperate IMO.... not being funny but giving it the worlds best polish aint gonna sell the car.... YOUR best and only option is less talk more action remove the valueable parts sell them off, put std back on and let it go cheap that way you you get more or bang on what you want.... adverising it everywhere and moaning it aint sold in a few weeks aint gonna sell it.. my MINT fiesta rs show winner well under priced took 6 months to sell... if you sell your car quick these days for the price you want your VERY lucky...

Thanks Radman,
I am in no major hurry to sell the vehicle, but would like to shift the vehicle as its a lot of money to have sitting around.
Will just keep it for sale, someone at some point will be keen on it.
