Default Guys-an idea.......

Seeing as how Paul R has shown us it is possible to make parts available if you really really want them, is it worth us considering what we can get re- manufactured between us.
I for one would love to get involved in this and would be willing to invest a bit of cash if needs be.
There are quite a few of us on here and I am sure some of us know of ways/means to get parts remade but lack the investment on our own.

I was thinking specifically of front stone deflectors as they are impossible to get hold of and would sell very well and for a good price me thinks
I am sure there are plenty more parts we could look at as the RSOC route seems to have dried up

Your thoughts.......

well maybe after xmas

Am all up for remaking the placcy 1s, As I get through them fairly quickly (you try avoiding the chunk of ice that's just fallen oof the back of the Polish truck that you are overtaking on the Autobahn at 130 mph) - ie, the glassfibre/carbon 1s are nice but way to expensive to use daily. It would be very useful therefore if somebody could fing out which of Ford's many suppliers made the origibals. Armed with that info all we'd need to do is contact them & find out if they were prepared to run some more off & if not, if they would seel the moulds. Having had some business contact with injection-,moulding companies I can't believe that the moulds are worth more than a couple of thousand €uros & finding a company prepared to run a few off is really not that hard & they shouldn't cost more than about 50 quid each either.

If this works out you can put down for 3 of the things - minimum, & I'm talking annually here.

the problem is the tooling for the front spoiler broke in 95/96 and was never replaced.

Good idea mate.
How about getting replacement body panels pressed, quater panels etc from the origional molds. Or do they no longer exist?

If the tooling/moulds were broken 10 years or so ago I can see why all we can get now are glass/carbonfibre 1s. New placcy moulds would cost a ton of cash.

An injection mould tool for the stone deflector would cost many thousands of pounds. If the broken original tool could be located it would be much cheaper repairing it rather than starting from scratch.

Ive been in contact with a small company regarding the stone deflectors a couple of weeks ago. Im going to take him my spare down to see what he can come up with. He said it shouldnt be too much of a problem to do and can guarantee that they wont ripple like the originals.

Im sure people are getting annoyed about the ones rsoc club are supposed to be getting re-manufactured, as it seems to have been on-going for a couple of years now.

I work for a plastic injection moulding company and we have a few old ford moulds. Only one we have that was put on the Escort Cosworth is the plastic battery cover. But we put mould tools in for ford that are 15 years old and maybe older! Every year or so they will ask us to run off a spares order for say 50 parts. If the spoiler tool broke i bet they still have it somewhere. Never known for a tool to be a "right off" so to speak and are normally easy repairable. If the tool can be located and purchased from Ford i could have a word with my MD to see if we could get some ran off. We also have a toolroom that could repair the broken spoiler tool. Very longshot IMO but good idea.

SAFFYCOSSIE, well worth a shot mate, especially if you emphasise the fact that theres a very high demand for the part.

That's true Dave, now I know John is on the case I wont pursue this, however in just over 10 posts we have quite a few people not only interested but willing to help out and indeed one who could fix the tool and make the parts-that shows we have the interest and the skill to do more

I might be able to help here, one of my best mates owns a company that makes all the press tools for people like Jaguar and Landrover etc, to make their panels..... If we can get patterns I will see what he can do But I seem to remember all the escort panels were handmade?
