Fuel Tank's & Sunroof's
Hopefully a couple of easy and quick questions.
Firstly, anyone know the capacity of the standard fuel tank?
Secondly, is everything from a saph electric sunroof the same as the electric roof on an escort, ie: the glass, runners, motor, switches, and the inside panel section that covers/houses the switch and motor?
Many thanks

Hi mate, looked in to the sunroof issue and put a thread out on this, dont know how you would find this out, but it seem that on the man roof, the splines are smaller so you would need to buy the electric unit and motor and cover. West Midlands Spares offered me all the parts needed for about £100.00 all in with the new housing. Hope this helps

i think the escos used the normal escort foor pan but everything else was structurally sierra chassis wise
coincidentaly, every sunfoor glass panel i've come across is the same, it's the gubbins that it attaches too that differ so measure the glass bit, you never know, it might be able to fit
don't get a granada one though, the splined bit doesn't stick out as far so the motor doesn't have anything to actually hook up to, found this ut the hard way

You don't need to change the sunroof in an Escort - the frames were the same whether they were motorised or not (apart from the pre 1992 Mk5s). The Sierra stuff won't fit - it is totally different.
You just need the motor and relay etc from a Mk1 or Mk2 Mondeo (which will bolt straight on) and the Escort cowling which was a tenner from Fords last time I bought one. Here is a link to one off Ebay that I just found, although you'll get it loads cheaper from a breakers.

Mark, cheers for the info mate, is that exactly what i need as you say - other than the correct cowling from fords?
Kev, 60 or 65 is fine, its only so i have a vague idea as to what size fuel tank for Pro-alloy to make, not that it really matters.

Definitely 65 litres and it says so in my manual as well , as like Gert, when it has been on absolute fumes, I have managed to to get over 65 litres in on a few occasions.
Also, when calibrating the Stack's, we ALWAYS manage to get in between 67-69 litres (MANUALLY measuring them ).
