Default Fuel smell from ECossy

Hi guys / gals

Have noticed quite a strong fuel smell inside the car whilst driving, have lifted the bonnet but can't see anything leaking anywhere. Also noticed the smell from the exhaust smells a bit of petrol but no black smoke indicating running rich although I have noticed I now get a pop from the exhaust now and again. Is there any common place to look and how do I know if it's running rich or not.

Probably need to get this sorted soon as it's MOT is due within weeks

hey mate
you should check the fuel lines properly.from front especially..where they are jointed to the steel piping under the car...if there is a petrol smell..then there has to be a leak somewhere..may not a big leak..
i recently had a fuel leak on mine..and the leak was the hose itself in the engine bay.have sorted that problem now.

do a proper check and im shure you will find it

good luck mate

I had this a while back... Check the ends of the rubber fuel pipes from the Fuel Rail down to the main Fuel lines...

Mine was leaking at the top side of the pipe where it connects on to the fuel rail (Bulkhead side) and where it connects to the very small filter type connection on the main lines, which are right at the bottom of the bay on passenger side in between the block and inner wing..

just follow the piping and you will find them ... he he

Mine were not Jubilee clipped and dont think they were from factory as they are heated on... so could just be coming loose after time, i jubilee clipped all ends and now fine.

Hello matey mine is the same, i think mine is possibly running rich, it just seems to be now and then though, i noticed it happen bad yesterday as i was in second gear and just put my foot down a little bit and then backed off to come to a stop at some lights, it really smelled strong for a few seconds when i stopped. also my friend said the other day as i passed him giving it a little bit it chucked a canny flame out the back so i think it needs checking, must be doing something with the fuel the ammount the bloody thing drinks!
