ABS question...
HI Guys -
Quick, and hopefully simple question for you all!
Fianally got the car running today again (after fitting all of my quip, cam belt change, DIS ignition etc..., and I have also changed the bells on my brakes, along with new bobbins etc...
All is ok, BUT the ABS light doesn't light up when you turn the ignition on, nor does it pop up when the engine is running
I can hear the pump when you start it up as per normal, and it turns itself off, so I presume all is ok in that area but has anyone got any ideas where to look?
I will check the bulb just on the off chance its simply blown, but we'll see...
Also, (i've not yet driven the car, only run it up to temp etc on the drive), but the brake pedal feels pretty bloody spongy.. - before it was a firm as you'd ever want - I've litrally just taken the calipers off (not touched the bleed nipples mind), fitted the new bits, and replaced everything in the order it was removed... - any ideas??
Cheers
Rich

Ritey then- had a quick look this morning, and all of the fuses, and bulbs are ok...
Where do I look from here pls? - any ideas at all?
If you do a search on ABS or brakes, it seems to bring up minimal results
Edit to add - if you disconnect the wiring on top of the ABS ma-jig below thew battery, the light does come on....
So, does that mean a sensor fault perhaps?

i had a problem with mine ages ago,it was the 2 thin red wires that go on the battery(there for the abs),the insulation on them is like rubber instead of plastic,it hadnt actually broken completely off it was still intact,if it wasnt for me having a real close look at it and noticing a split in it id of spent weeks trying to find the fault, you could see through the split the wire was broke inside.
worth a look check those wires mate worth a try, apparently a common problem i was told..

Tis very odd!
Did yours still brake ok etc??
I'll shoot into halfords and get 3 crimps to put onto the connectors - those 2 thin wires feed 3 larger wires after about 10 inches or so, so i'll join those directly to the bat!
Edited to add:
the brakes are ok, if not really spongy.. - the abs works too, but it may kick in ealier than what it did previously (i can't remeber how hard I broke on the oly time it kicked in before )
does this suggest a sensor fault?
Any way you can check them at all guys?
Cheers

Arh, ok. So you've changed all the hoses & since then the peddle has been spongy ??
If thats the case you've introduced air into the system when the Pipes were changed. You need to get the system bleed to remove the air, I wouldn't risk driving the car til its done as the brakes will be crap to say the least.
Chris.

Yeah, its defo not just the bulb as i've taken the cluster out and checked it, and the light does come on if you disconnect the multiplug at the top of the ABS gubbins with the ignition on.
The handbrake light goes out as per normal when you release the handbrake too..

Come to think of it, one of the only things i've not check is the connecttion between the sensor, and the loom... - where do they join peeps?
Could have knocked it when fitting my oil separator?.
Edit to add -
I've checked the connections for the front sensors. if you disconnect them then the light appears as per normal when you turn the ignition on. - looks like the rears need to be checked next, but after this i'm really starting to run out of ideas
