I would in the first instance just have a wiggle if the connectors around the pump to see if it is one of these.

yes and also check all fuses at the abs ecu, and the sensor under the passenger seat, if there's a problem.

that caused my abs to fail for some months....

I'd imagine he means the Wheel sensors.

Yes right behind the wheel, behind the disc you will see a sensor with a wire going to it, which is held in with a star bolt. They are close to the disc and get covered in crap.
Usually if the sensor fails, the ABS light goes out, but the ABS keeps kicking in!!

The orange light also illuminates if the computer thinks there is not enough pressure in the accumulator on top of the master cylinder. You can make it come on by pumping the brake pedal for a few seconds and then the light comes on to indicate low pressure.

Point is it might be the pressure switch - I have seen this a couple of times previously...

Any ideas how to actually get the sensors out at all chap?
And how much are they if they do need replacing?

remove the bolt, use loads of wd40 if they have never been removed before, and try and gently tap the rear end of the sensor from side to side to get it moving, then you can keep twisting it untill you can pull it out, dont try to lever it as it will snap off and they cost a fortune new

They were around the £100 mark but that was a few years ago when I bought mine.
