why not just wait for Stu@MSD's T34 conversion? that way you can keep the ecu and loom. I'm sure 400bhp is acheivable with the eecIV when Stu works his magic

I'd wait for Stu. Especially as this can be done DIY.
Messing with ECU's you have to know what your up to, not fogetting the cost.

My car is going back very soon for "Phase 2" of the EEC IV tuning experiment Why would you want to pay £1000+ to DOWNGRADE to autronic from EEC IV??? A lot of people just spout off what they have been told previously, I'm sure STU@MSD will enlighten you as to why the EEC IV is such a good platform, adaptive fuelling and coilpack drivers as standard are just the tip of the iceberg Watch this space.....

Stu recons a GENUINE 350BHP with the torque to match, it certanly felt quick , give MSD a ring and see if they are ready to sell the conversion yet

I didn't want to say anything....

and anyway, thats £685, PLUS the remap for the engine etc - and why DOWNGRADE the ECU?

I understand what you say about downgrading as ford spent alot to develope this to put on as many cars in there range as possible . But the biggest issue with the remaps that are being sorted now are that they follow a predicable route same turbo, injectors ect ect its very old school ,pretty much the same as t4 greys remap, tuners like the same path as they can make maximum money............. aftermarket management may not offer quite the resolution but offers more flexabilty with features , im not sure but would assume eev 4 can not do w/i anti ,antilag, nos. so it must depend on the spec of you car if you want a safe 350 with t34 go with remap......then in 6 months when 350 is not enough sell the chip and get something that is truely flexable and does not tie you to one tuner

ps is it true the test car shit its self

ps is it true the test car shit its self-

Yes and No. The headgasket went, so nothing to do at all with MSD, just old age and the fact that the car has been running 350+ bhp on a standard 110,000 mile engine , but the good news is that the mapping side of things is absolutly perfect, and the 350 BHP conversion is nigh on ready to go

Car is having a rebuilt at the moment due to headgasket failure, and the fact that it has done 110,000 miles without a build, so it is well due a freshen up to prevent any damage before It happens. Also taking the oppertunity to slightly low-comp it, and prepeare it for 400+ BHP, and stick a decent gearbox and front diff in it

Mine has ALS on omex 600, is fully mappable, and drives unbelievably. The car is still running the standard size T28 turbo and now has 367lbft.
The EEC4 has (until now?)never been able to have been hacked into, but there have always been other options to run that ECU and acheive more power, for example HKS AIC, Unichip piggyback ECU running an additional 4 injectors (one we called EEC4+4) .
The EEC4 is an immensly complex and advanced ecu, but with advances in engine management, I would hardly say the other options are a downgrade, more like a sidestep!!
The EEC4 has loads of features the omex doesn't, like immobiliser and coffee making facilities, whereas the omex can run NOS, ALS etc etc

I think people might be missing the point of this conversion, its to get the most out of the car with the minimum changes & cost. MSD have given people new options that will save them money @ that power level. If you want more than 350 bhp you'll have to change more than maybe just the ECU anyway.

P.S This isn't aimed at anyone before I get flamed.

Std chips have always been good for 300bhp, at £300 or so.
I have one for sale with ECU, but can't tell you that!!

Should be able to , depends on how many miles the car has done and the general condition of the engine..... If it's done high miles it might be worth doing it before you get the conversion done
