FAO Paul Ripley..
I saw this on Ebay, you might have seen it but just incase you hadn't;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1994-FORD-ESCO...QQcmdZViewItem
Seems a good car, at first I thought something was dodgy but seems genuine enough.

what sort of money is that car worth in that condition? how much do you think it would have to be brought for for it to actually be an investment?

I keep watching the Cosworths for sale on Auto trader and Ebay, and I reckon this would realistically be worth about £11-12k maximum.
Most of the Escorts on Auto Trader that are £14k+ have been on there for at least 6 months or more...
Nice car though, a number 2 would be a nice collectors edition but its still a well used model, not a low mileage jobby.
Paul.
