How much trouble is it getting parts?
Hi all,
I've still got a Cosworth on my purchasing radar towards the end of the year. But, I've read a few times that people struggle to get hold of parts.
Just how much of a problem is this? Is it any worse than getting bits for a standard Escort nowadays for example (aside from the rarity in scrap yards)? My folks have an Escort and don't have any trouble with the regular bits that are required.
Thanks all,
Paul.

A lot of the things that are no longer available are often esy to get around though by making, having made, Circlips for example just get another the same, easy to get as all cars use them, might be a hunt for the right size but an driveshaft place will know it straight away as fitting "xyz" car.
Dash invertors just replicate the oe one.
The thing to remember is FORD never made the CAR!!, they assembled it, it was made with factories all around the world making the bits as any car is, so a lot of stuff still made pattern.

Every technical part is almost available (unfortunately they're not very cheap...)

Thanks guys, thats good to know. The mechanical bits are more the point I was worrying about. Knowing nothing about car mechanics they'll need to be available!
I'll make sure I get a good one cosmetically.

getting parts is not that bad, as said, most are available from " other sources " or there's always EBay !! there not the cheapest of parts but there out there, with trim and panels being the hardest to find.
ford still do a fair bit really, i got skirt clips and an alternator just last week for just over £100
things that are shared with other models you can get from motor factors / halfords, ( CV boots / sierra XR4X4 , brakes are that of some sierra / Granada models ( although you want modded parts for that !! )) doors are that of all MK5`s
don't worry about it, i would not let it put you off !!!

I havent had any problems as such with engine parts, but expect to wait a few days if they have to come from main warehouse....
you may wonder, but ebay has come to my rescue a few times. most people are selling interior parts on there that ehy have kept up in there loft or what not, although at a price.
So if your car does breakdown, dont expect it to be fixed within a day. Most parts are available next day though.
