What is rubbing on this??

Mine did the some it was rubbing on the heatproof lagging cos the engine mounts were shagged and letting the engine jump about. Try jacking the engine up and see how much the passenger mount lifts and imagine that happening when you drive ??

I would say engine mount. If it was just the lagging hanging down a bit then i dont reckon it would actually wear the plastic away. Got to be the whole engine moving upwards and forcing itself against the lagging/bonnet. Definalty needs looking at sharpish though as when the engine mount went on my S2, the crossover pipe dented the bonnet!
