Default What is rubbing on this??

It appeared a while ago and has now got worse!
Anyone know why?

hmmmm,heatproof lagging on the bonnet maybe,my large turbo one rubbed

Mine did the some it was rubbing on the heatproof lagging cos the engine mounts were shagged and letting the engine jump about. Try jacking the engine up and see how much the passenger mount lifts and imagine that happening when you drive ??

Yep i reckon deffo the lagging mate theres nothing else there directly above it

I would say engine mount. If it was just the lagging hanging down a bit then i dont reckon it would actually wear the plastic away. Got to be the whole engine moving upwards and forcing itself against the lagging/bonnet. Definalty needs looking at sharpish though as when the engine mount went on my S2, the crossover pipe dented the bonnet!

Mine has made a very small mark in the paint, it's kind of dulled it not rubbed it away, might have to investigate the engine mounts as thought they all just rubbed

I've got the same problem mate

Maybe some new engine mounts will solve this problem

GGR sell new cambelt covers for £25 you bufty geeks , but I have to agree with the engine mount diagnosis, try matt lewis motorsport for a set of Collins mounts, not as harsh as vibratechnics but much better than STD

Matt Lewis was sellin them for £110 at Central Day, gutted really, found out after I had just paid £120 from RapidFord for the Vibratechnics ones Just shows ya that you need to shop around
