Default EsC Cos coolant mixture and Amount

Away to flush out the coolant system and replace the header tank at the same time on the cossie as dont know when it was changed last and its looking bit murky in the old header tank.

How many litres does it take to fill up the coolant system in a esc cos on a standard radiator and what mixture % of water to coolant should i put in.

thanks........steve

I know its 50/50, I bought the 5yr coolant from Halfords so I don't have to do it every 2 yrs.

Can't tell you how much you need though, I normally buy the 5 Litre bottles.

i use the Ford 'pinkish' coolant & mix around 50/50, 5 litres of coolant is more than enough to fill up & do a fair few top ups.

Hows the best way to get rid of all the brown water?

Ive changed all the coolant before in previous cars but it still was a bit of a dark blue colour.

Any tips?

Brown water mean the head has started to corrode due to a lack of anti freeze...

you can only flush it out with water and see how it goes...

maybe impossible to cure without skiming the head.

Heres my original header tank the day before changing the cooland and header tank...

heres the difference between the old and new.£32 from ford

and heres the new tank with pink coolant.it only took just over 3 ltrs so must have been stuff left over as its now a murky pink.lol

took off the bottom radiator hose and flushed normal water through it from a hose a few times but still didnt get it as clear as i wanted in the tank.o well
