Default Claying a car

Has anyone actually done this to there car????????????? i bought a meguires claying kit yesterday and got cracking. It took fucking ages but the result is unbelievable.

you now when you rub your hand down you paint work and it feels slightly rought not smooth like fresh paint, mine was like that at the bottom of the front wings the worse and basically slightly rought on the whole of the lower car ie middle of door downwards. Its all inground dirt apparently so the clay removes it all and makes the paint smooth as silk, it was unbelievable the difference it really was, infact i'd probably go as far as to say its the best Ł25 notes i've spent in a long time

Ps ye my arm was killing me, trust me its worth it

1 rinse car with hose
2 was with shampoo
3 rinse car
4 dry with chamie (sp)
5 clay the whole car
6 dry excese cleaning agent off
7 apply wax
8 polish wax off

I was told that you are suppose to clay it while the paint work is still wet

Yep - Use the quick detailer that you get with the clay kit
I've got to do mine again.. although i need to get the front bumper sprayed first!

The difference in the feel of the paintwork is amazing when you do a before and after touch test. The clay bar even improves things after t'cutting. It works by 'pulling' the impurities (specks of dirt, rust particles etc) out of the paint. Well worth the effort if you're into concours preparation of your car.

I think even halfords sell it now. I got mine loads cheaper off ebay just do a search for Meguiars Quick Clay.

I've just done the interior and cleaned under the bonnet, so its getting there. Looks like a different car from the 1 i bought 2 months back, its amazing what a few days and a cleaning kit can do

been reading up on this and it says you can use it on the glass,does it get rid of the staining on the glass, like around the rear window bolts? anyone tried it?
