Default Original Radio and CD Player Questions

Hello Chaps

I've got a couple of simple questions about the standard CD player and radio :

Is there any security built into it? Any codes that need to be entered? My car came with the factory units, but I've never powered them up.

If there is a code, where can I obtain it from?

What is the output power of the original unit (amplifier)

Cheers

Paul

The CD player and tape unit will have codes that need to be entered when the KAM loses power.

Various persons on here may have a small program that will give you the original code when you enter the serial number of the units If the units have ever been re-coded these programs may not help.

The original amp was something relatively girly like 4x30 watt. IIRC

The codes should have been written into the Ford stereo book/manual which you get from new, along with all the other booklets/manuals

I do still have all the original service books etc but i've not seen any codes? I'll have another look!

Is it just the normal 4 digit code?

I'll try and refit it at the weekend and let you know.

Cheers

I think there was a guy on the RSOC forum that can take your serial code off the units and give you the keycode.

Stick a post on there..

these keycode programs are pretty naff, you'll be lucky if they work.

i have one which i bought from e-bay, if you want a code i'll see what the program says and pm you the keycode.

all i'll need is the serial numbers.

Hello Chaps

I have now installed the radio and cd player and coded them

The code was in the audio manual Should have looked properly

Thanks for all your offers of help.

One more thing, the display on the radio is much dimmer than the cd player?
Is this normal? I assume a bulb has blown? Does any one know if these can be replaced?
Or shall I look for another radio?

Cheers

That it does, but the radio is alot dimmer than the CD player and when you put the lights on you can hardly see the radio.

I think the display must be back lit and the bulb is blown, just wondered if any one knew if this could be changed.

Cheers
