Default Stupid easy question..

...but i'll ask anyway...

How tight do you's put on your header tank caps? And what would be the outcome if it was left loose?

Righty, i thought that mate...

I took it out earlier and i was quite bad too it, and i never put my cap on tight for some reason. It didn't boil over or anything daft but it's more 'bubbly' than i'd have liked.

So, the cap's on tight now and i'll take it out later and see how it goes. I just worry about the tank bursting. I have serious issues with the header tank mate, as you know! You were a witness, that was the start of my paranoia!

sometimes hard to tell if the tank is bubbling beacuse of the water return from the turbo or its something worse.

if you take it for a hard run and then stop straight away you should not get any water coming out the cap.

if there is evidence of water coming out the cap it could be over presurising again?

No water coming out the cap/ top at all. Although the other day i had the cap off and just as the fans came on Tac turned it off and it pressured up and water bubbled out the top. Started it and i went back to normal..?

Right,

Put the cap on hand tight and took it out there and gave it a hard time, no issues at all. A slight 'hiss' from the tank but nothing serious, went away after sitting for a min. I noticed the seal in the cap is goosed so i've ordered a new one...

Bloody cossie paranoia!

Sounds ok Stoo...

The reason it bubbled over when you switched it off is cos it was at its hotest point.

best to wait the fans cut off before switching it off.

you will get a small hiss even from a new cap as they are desigined to let pressure above a certain level out

just keep an eye on water level..if you dont have to put any in then it cant be over pressurising and leaking out.

We all go thru the same para moments...i have actually seen myself getting back out of bed at nite to go and try someting on the car because it didnt feel right before i came home

As said, just hand tight that you can do up with TWO fingers will be plenty.
