Default Outside temperature sensor!

Ever since i bought the car,the red l.e.d. is constantly on,and instead of showing how warm/cold it is outside, the display just shows 2 lines.this has bugged me for ages now,so at the weekend, thought i'd take the front bumper off and have look where the sensor is located.Tested across the 2 pins on and it came up with small resistance reading with the ohms meter.Cleaned the connections, put it back together, still nothing!
Must be either the sensor or computer.Anyone had similar problems?

you could buy a cheap used sensor just to see if it is that,if not,its the unit.

Bought a sensor from ford a bit back dont remember it being overly expensive...

Mine kept on showing the red light but did show a temperature also,,.... which was stupidly low..

What happened?
The guy is one of the 6 of us that share our unit, where we store our track cars etc, he stole quite a few bits from my cars including 2 brand new RS2000 wheel bearings
We are in a no win situation as if he leaves his workmate will aswell if that happens we then can't afford the rent on the unit as they just work as mechanics there and don't store cars.
so we couldnt replace them easily although there is a que of people wanting to store cars at our place!
he has gave me an amount of money to cover the stuff and apologized to everyone in the unit. that is the end of it.
and we will move on

no more chances tho

I tried changing the sensor in mine & the clock unit, no change.

So I cut the sensor off & stuck some tape on the wires.

No more silly red lights on the dash.
