Same strength.

T34 is a 370bhp turbo

4x4 Sierra T3 is a 310-320bhp one.

I've heard stories with T34 pumping out 400bhp, possible or just stories?

My saff got 348 bhp and 430 lbf-ft torque @ 24PSI on high pressure @32 PSI it got 378 Bhp and 456lbf-ft torque . (with a rally spec T03 turbo, everything build by dutch rallyspecialist Gerry Knubben).

Turbo is on the car for almost 2yrs and still goes

The T34 is just a 370bhp turbo, but by having the head flowed and ported and with some different cams, you can squeeze 400bhp out of them, but is not advisable, as it drastically shortens their life if used aggressively.

T34 has been on cars for years running 410/420 reliably.

My car made 419bhp on T34 0.63 a/r 360° thrust etc, with a peak of 34psi and held of 26psi by 7000 rpm. It did a true 172mph, so obviously had the power. I was getting through TURBOs every three months.... Pushing them that hard puts them well outside their compressor map efficiency randge and overspeeds them to the point that they continuously throw exhaust blades due to going supersonic. That is FACT, and not subject to conjecture . You may "think" some cars have over 400bhp, but there are very few fitted with a T34 that have this figure GENUINELY (and I'm not talking about over inflated rolling road flywheel "calculated" bhp figures either ).

Or that they are not actually used hard on a regular basis.
