i have made up my mind to up the power on my 100% standerd T25 cos been given two diffrent prices and two very diffrent opinuions .first price from woodford motorsport and they said i would need a full mongosse KN panel filter up rated fuel pump bigger autator and diffrent plugs. for £580 as i all ready have the mongosse but he said that the small turbos dont like power chips and said i will have nothting but troauble with it as they just dont like them second qoute inter pro same as above but with a new electronic chip and a rolling road sesion £1.180 .so which one do i go for and what sort of power will i see i just want it to be a bit more powerfull

I think people are assuming that the ggr 305 conversion achieves 305bhp. As mike said, many will be around 260-280 with just the ggr305, but a TRUE 300bhp ST car will be quicker than a TRUE 300bhp BT car. As a few reliable sources on here have stated, a 300bhp ST seems to be the equivelent of a 320-330 ish BT car.
Not saying anyone on here does, but i find it so funny when people think that the T25 is not as quick because it has a smaller turbo.

Back on topic though, i personally wouldnt shell out £3500 for a BT conversion on such an original car. Id take it somewhere decent to get a proper 300bhp or close to it.

BT escorts feel quicker because the power/torque comes in with such a bang, the ST escort has a flat torque curve hence feels physically slower but I assure you they are not because they have the power available more of the time, so general driving they are much better IMO.
Real world example is my mates 2wd saph cossie RS Lozworth of here and that is a stage 1 on a T3 which I thought was MUCH quicker than my escort, however on a recent jaunt he said he couldn't catch me, so take into account the 4WD tranny losses as well and this proves a point.
You will be very lucky to get 300hp from a small turbo, maybe with a change of cams, for example GGR305 conversions were/are notorious for not achieving the claimed figures, and I think if you speak to any tuner they will tell you 305 would only ever be achievable on a spike, not particular useful.
Having owned both cars I would not assume the BT is the daddy because I found it quite frustrating at times, and genuinely prefer my ST car as it is compared to my Stage 3 BT as it was. Having said that I do want 400hp/400lbs as my Evo was 350 and now I want to go a stage further and that aint gonna happen with the T25
If you are going to chip your ST expect anywhere between 260 and 280 hp I would say, it WILL feel quicker, but you WILL want more
I have the standard airbox still on mine, and the general feedback I have recieved is that this is good enough for 400hp so unless you want the induction noise don't bother.
If you have the zaust then you need a chip, fuel pump and an actuator you don;t say exactly what is being done for the £1,000 but this seems a little high to me, the £500 notes seems about right

yes sorry I see that now duh!!!
I think both are pricey mate to be honest, I would go somewhere like TurboSystems or MSD get Fuel pump, actuator and chip for around £500, don't quote me on that though and actually get a power increase
the ST can be a pain in the arse with regards chipping a lot depends on the version for example mines an ANTE which is the worst apparently

you need a tuner mate but i would guess, less than 250 if that because its the chip that controls your fuelling and so forth so even if the car wants to boost higher or breath better you aint gonna reap the benefit as the ECU will think things are going haywire
you need a new chip mate.

IMO just with a exhaust, filter and fuel pump your only going to be looking at about 230-235bhp
as said its the chip, extra boost and uprated T28 thats needed for a strong 300bhp

So, to sum it up.........................all you need to do is get on the phone to Stu at MSD (dont bother with anyone else) and let him know what you want. Basically an uprated exhaust (mines a Blueflame and its lovely) a fuel pump, actuator and chip. Oh and dont bother with a rolling road session As said most tuners, Stu included dont use them
