Why do you need to machine the rocker cover? The small turbo has a sensor in place of the distributor that provides the ecu with the equivalent signal.

I'm guessing here that you are going P8 distributorless? If so, you'll need to ask the kit vendor if they can use the output from a Hall Effect cam sensor.

Surely if the Hall Effect sensor was compatable with P8 managment people would use that instead of going through the trouble of machining camshaft and cam cover and purchasing all parts required?

If a Hall Effect sensor isn't compatible with the ecu then I'd look at using a modified Cosworth distributor for it's phase sensor (it's a variable reluctance sensor).

I'll guess and say Mike's had it done as he's going Pectel T6, on the ECU front.
