Default Space Saver tyre.

I want to replace the original wheels with some 18" Rondells but I'm not sure if its worth buying 5 wheels or 4. The people who have replaced their wheels what have you done about the space saver as surley this is no long useable with 18" wheels fitted.
Thanks.

Chris.

Just carry a can of tyre weld with you just in case. I suppose its good to have a spare 18" but not really worth shelling out for an extra one in my opinion.

Cheers all. RAC membership @ the ready

S1rst,
Good idea never thought of that, cheaper than another wheel & tyre.

Dave,
Your a braver man than me, the space saver belongs on a citroen not a Cossie......

would a space saver not damage the gearbox due to the wheels covering more distance than the space saver

got a 5th wheel for mine and then done a complete boot build to allow for amps and sub in a moulded box around the wheel arch, all in a moulded floor with the new spare as focal point in the boot

i HATE space savers!

Had this problem on the way the central day the year before last, had a blow out n only had the space spaver, a few mates were like just stick it on and take it easy, but how could i turn up to the cars first show with a wicked set of rondells n one missing...

either RAC..... or if you have a spare £450ish, get in touch with Chris @ Carnoiuseur for the spare.. as one of the things i was going to do.

but

£130ish i think if i remember rightly for a complete RAC membership (which covers you nationally and unlimited call outs, homesatart n tracker so they can find ya)

Cheers for all the replies.
I've been quoted £1500 for a set of 5 inc Toyo Proxies which I thought was good.I'd prefer F1's but thats another £100 on top.

They also come with 225/40ZR18 but was told its better to have 225/35ZR18.Has any noticed that the speedo under or over reads after fitting these tyres ???

Whats people's thoughts on Toyos ????
I had them on my VR6 but not on the cossie.

if its put on the back and the rolling circumference is that much out , it is poss that the rear diff will become damaged as it will lock the LSD and one wheel will try and turn faster than the other.

wont effect the front if the STD ( not a LSD diff ) diff is in place.
