Mentalistical Engine building
I am currently in the process of getting an engine built up for a customer and was onto pistons / rods and crank.
Any experiences / opinions on the following;
oliver rods
carillo rods
arrow rods
std shot peened rods
je pistons
ross pistons
cosworth pistons
woosner pistons
accralite pistons
oliver custom crank
obviously they all claim to be 'the best', but really, only one of them can be [/list]

I would add CP pistons to the list and maybe SPM conrods. Those are the parts that I am going to use. They are reasonable price and I've been told that they are good value for your money. I would gues all those pistons manufacturers are good, it's up to the spec and details that you want the pistons with. I also think that std shot peened rods are enough for most of us, but if you want different lenght rods then you have no choise. How often do you hear that standard rod has let go?

Carillo is out. The rods have failed 2 engines my engine guy built for motorbikes on the IOM TT race. Little ends failed.
I am getting there.
Car will only be 6-650 bhp but dry sumped, GT35 etc and must be capable of a lot of abuse.

Powers used arrow rods & a farndon crank for the 2.4 conversion, both companys were good.
Pistons seem to be more to personal choice, i was thinking of using wossner for my engine but the guy doing the machining work measured the block & what needed taking out, got the dimensions of a few makes of pistons & we decided mahle would be the best size option & fine for what i wanted (about 400 bhp)
