anyone know if you can get the rubber bungs off the back of the parcel shelf, all other fords I have looked at have them in different shapes to the esc cos and I am still missing one.

have no idea what part you are on about, i know you can still get the rubber straps that attatch it to the boot £1 each. if you are on about the part that sits onto the shelf side support i have no idea but reckon you wont be able to buy them as a single unit.

The bits I am wanting are the 2 rubber "wedges" that fit onto the front edge (as you look at it) of the shelf they sit flush onto the bootlid when it's shut.
the shelf has 2 holes in it for them to sit into.

i had one missing when i brought mine years ago,and even then the local Ford parts department couldnt find the right part....i kept getting totally different ones that didnt even fit. I then brought an acoustic shelf,so i gave up looking.

i fitted these ones onto my acoustic shelf, got them from from my local ford dealer iirc they were £1 each

i remembered today so popped in to fords,i really dont know why i bother guy came back with a rubber bung 3 times the size and said thats the only one they do,theyre all the same im off back tomorrow with the part no,see what he says then!

pmsl, that is exactly what happend to me, the bung you get from ford is huge!! my ford dealer also said no mk5 escorts had bonnet vents when I asked about the under bonnet insulator/soundproofing!!
still havent got a new one presume there is none now

These are the little bastards. my local Fords had 2 left.





BUT, as mentioned in a previous post, they are too big for the whole in the parcel shelf.
So i dont know whether to modify the Bung or the Parcel shelf.
i.e. cut the flap off the bung that meant to go through the whole and us a screw n washer to go through the whole.
Cut a square... hopefully the right size as the bung bit that pops through, this bit is sqaure and the whole on the shelf is round (no bigger than 8mm)

I will let ya's know what i do and if it stops any of my rattle.

They were only £3ish, so gues it wont brake the bank...

They would do the same job though wouldnt they???? The ones i bought that is? Just look different.

Just had another look at microcat guys, and it actually lists 3 different parcel shelves... - one is listed specifcally for the cos, so it looks like the fini's above may well be incorrect... - sorry - that is certainly the only one that microcat lists however for escorts our age....

I see what you saying but its a bit on the extreme side for 2 little rubbers...........then again it depends what condition your shelf is in

This is the item that Gatecrasher mentioned about on ebay from seller cosworthshop. n if you look closely, it has the rubber bung things that i bought the other week... n not the flat design in the other pic posted in this thread.
