Clifford 600, good alarms but need to be installed by someone who knows what they are doing.Too many blame the alarm when its the installer at fault.
Go by recomendation not price would be my advice with Clifford installers.

I've got an old school friend who is a Clifford installer. I chose him because I know his work is top notch - I was trained as an auto electrician at Vauxhall Motors so i'm a fussy git when it comes to wiring.
So I ended up with an Intelliguard 850, it has all the addtional sensors on it and even has 2 blue flashing Clifford stickers to le the thieves know
I particularily like the anti-hijack - doors lock as soon as i drive off and the security keypad which means I have to type in a security code each time i get in the car if not after 30 second the alarm sound, lights flash and the engine cuts out.
Nice to know that even if some little bugger nicks the keys they can't get too far

the only problems i have ever had with alarms,is with cliffords.
i have had many cars fitted with them and they were always broke
or on their last legs,or did funny things.
how about the one when the clifford would set the siren off when you were driving
or the one that threw a wobbler when a bloke came to buy it

Cliffords can do much more than most other alarms & because of that you need to have them installed properly.
I've had 3 of them & all have been reliable, had Toad aswell which are also good alarms.
Its all personal preference.

So basiclly stay away from cliffords then?
Spoke to a couple installers and they said the cliffords are superb but most installers are pish.
What kinda money should i expect to pay for somethin decent ... 300 quid ish ???

Agree with Euan go for a toad, ive ran these on my last 4 cars and never had any bother with them. My cossie had a clifford on it when i bought it that then went off and locked the car on day meaning i had to break in to disconect the battery, it got cut out the next day.

Everyone here has been comenting on the make of the alarm rather than the electrician that fitted it? I think this is the crucial point!
I think the best thing to do with alarms is find a reputable installer rather than neccessarily a make or model
I'm sure a cheap alarm correctly installed will be alot more reliable than an expensive Clifford or Toad installed by a young lad that doesn't know his Ar$e from his elbow.

i have two cliffords 50x and g4 trouble free but they do sound the siren if the car or siren battery are low on charge as a way of letting you know of the power loss . a good idea imho
