HELP with vecta security systems immobiliser
just removed my brothers vecta immobiliser as he was getting p?ss off with keep putting the key in to the unit .
it was immobilising pin 28 a blue/green and pin 10 a blue/yellow the ends to these wires from the ecu were not conneted and the wires going to the ecu were both joined together and going to the vecta immobiliser witch then earthed these wires when turned off
ive now rejoined the blue/green back up to pin 28 and the blue/yellow up to pin 10 correctly as pre immobiliser being fitted
but the escort willnot start now
my question is have any of u had this problem ?
and did vecta do anything allso to these wirers in the engine bay?
thanks for any help u can offer

big turbo uses the P8 ecu which has different ecu and pin outs to the small turbo
on the P8: pin 28, is the ground for the fuel pump relay, by connectiong this to ground the pump should run, this is what the ecu does automatically.
pin 10 is the ecu supply, this should have >12v to it when the ignition is on.
what is actually happeneing. does the fuel pump run when you turn the ignition on.. can you crank it on the key or is it totally dead?
a couple of other things to try..... has the fuel cut off switch actuvated - easy to catch and do it, its in the passenger footwell on the A pillar , press the red button on top to reset it - this will stop the fuel pump running.
also, has the car been locked with the key - by doing this, this activates the ford alarm/imobiliser, just unlocking it with the aftermarket keyfob unlocks the car, but doesnt disarm the ford alarm. you need to actually turn the key in the barrel...

hi im steve with the immobiliser fault
thanks for your advice and assistance
the fuel pump cut of switch is ok and the for alarm is turn of if i join both wires together on harness side not ecu side and join these wires to an earth the car starts but if join the wires up correctly to the ecu it will not start Dave Henshall

hmmm, sounds like it could be a faulty ecu - OR the ecu hasn't got a good ground - pins 1 and 19 should have next to nothing resistance to the body shell (0.3 ohms) these 2 are earthesd on the inlet manifold, on the engine, the bottom torx bolt at the back has an eyelet that these are crimped into - make sure these are tight and clean - i ran an additional earth to the body from here to make sure when i was having electrical gremlins

sorry thats right - the pin does earth through the ecu - but if the ecu hasnt got a good earth, it cant so hence grounding it does allow it to start - still something not right though,,,,

thats y he wired the immobiliser as he did so now on the lookout for a new ecu with pectal board/chips are get the oldone referbed

yey!! there is always a simple answer at the end of a complicated fault
glad to help,
you can use either a P8 or L8 ecu - both will work with the rigth chip
