anti roll bar captive nut

Default anti roll bar captive nut

one of the captive nuts on the anti roll bar has dissapeared into the chassis leg.Has anyone suffered this before and how did you fix it.

It happend to me on my saff, i made a boss out of some steel bar about 2inches long tapped to the right size (think it was 10mm ) and welded it into the chassis rail

lift the carpet and find the little slots in the floor pan above the chassis rails
you'll have to cut a hole in this to get to the other side of the nut and then chop it out somehow

then weld a new one into place

I used a nut, welded to a piece of thin rod(3mm) then inserted it through the hole that is there(at the side) and wiggled it around until it lined up.

I did exactly the same on my old saph, my current escort has no such problems

ive seen this repaired with half of a u bolt and nut stuck through from the side of the leg there is a hole already as above. you can hold it in position while fitting the bracket back up very easy
