ive put some on my xr3 last week they seem ok ,
you just have to use the top suspension cups ,the top rubbers and the plastic ring. hope this helps
the only thing thats wrong with my car now is that the front wheels seem to toe in but it was like that when i got it so im going to put on a s1 anti roll bar and adj track control arms to sort that out
And the pics was before i put the new suspension on !!!!!!!!!

Wouldnt worry about it too much, the suspension on the XR3 was designed like that by fords, only to be redesigned later after problems with the handling arose
Just put the S1/RS1600i ARB setup on there with some adjustable bottom arms
