Think you'll be ok finding one chap, they pop up all over the place, like Ebay, Autotrader now and again
Also try,
www.rsownersclub.co.uk
This caters for the more traditional Ford RS enthusiast so you might be more likely to find one on there
Wait for the right car as well, with the exception of concourse, they all sell from about 1800-2500 for really good examples
...........that's unless you want a Silver one (as I did) because during the late 90's early 2k they were be broken what seemed like weekly
Things to check to make sure you have a real one.......
-Reg should be Y or A
-It should have a dirty great big front anti roll bar behind the front spoiler
-should have two little leds at the very top of the speedo (which might or might not work to indicate the rev limit)
-About an 1-2inches of peddel movement before any sign of stopping
-One code on the wheels rather than three (although a lot of people have replaced flat spotted RSi wheels for the three stamp S1 wheels, like me!)
-Should say RSi on the log book
-May or may not have twin coils depending on whether someone has converted this
Best advice though, would be to go along to a RS evening, and speak to people who actually own them, they are likely to know someone who is selling a goodun!

I'd always buy with a 12 month ticket, and if the current owner is fussy about getting it one, then walk away
Most should be reasonable (as in not immediate scrap yard material) as they wont be everyday runners now, just be careful and take a friend who is knowledgeable about the Ford rot bug......
They are all hiding something, I think mine taken a drivers side bump at some point in it's life.....

Sorry to hijack your post but i'm now also looking for an rs1600i, my last one got written off
I'm looking for a black one but i've only got £2000 to play with, insurance are giving me £1500 plus i keep the car so i'll break it to keep some parts and sell others depending on what my new one needs.
I would try and rescue my old one but i'd hafta spend more than the insurance are giving me and it'd always have that on it's record

i hav a silver rsi in great condition bought it just under a year ago but unfortunatley need sum cash and space so its gona hav to go to another good home . There is no major rust that i can see a few surface bits here and there because the paint is a bit to thin but its a lot beta as sum of the examples i have seen its a straight car very solid. Its running on twin carbs has front and rear strutbrace konis and polibushed all round very nice engine bay aprox 140bhp. Its well looked after car that i hav only used 4 shows and the odd weekend. The interior is very tidy seats are mint and no cracks in dash the rear seat base has tiny bit of wear but hey its 22 years old. This is a very nice example of such a rare car and i want it to go to a good home. i want around £3000 for it its tax n mot'd.
