going through these posts most of you seem to be restoring them or fixing them .
anyone still use there 16i as intended , used everyday or are they a bit thin on the ground now for that ?

I used mine everyday (work etc) for over two years until the head gasket went that was eight months ago
Unfortunatley its had a very hard life, i dont think it went more than two weeks without something going wrong bought it cheaply as it was on the verge of being broken for spares, a couple of weld plates later and it had an MOT
I did buy another RSi that was alot cleaner than this one but it got written off 5 mins after i bought it (act of god or fate, who knows) so i kept it, and now im rebuilding the engine so i can get it going again
Its not the best RSi but there must be something special about it, for all the money ive put into it theres gotta be

used to for a couple of years, but the age of the car means that unless it has been restored at some point (which mine hasn't yet) then it starts to rust and is hard to keep good...especially in a crap scottish winter where they cake the roads in salt!!
but i think i will need to take it out again, maybe next summer....

hello lads cheers for replys . is everyone on holiday on this site seems quiet ?
i guess most of them are stored away now , shame really i havnt seen one on the south coast actually being used as a mode of transport for years
never got round to actually owning and enjoying the rs16i , (well i did have one for 2 weeks so doesnt really count )
i still have 2 xr3s an xr3i and a S1 so kinda ran out of space to buy one but always liked the look of the 16i .
anyway there should be a campaign to get more 16is on the streets as cars that good looking shouldnt be tucked away in garages , and remember you cant take em with you

i used mine everyday for about 18 months and clocked up just under 20k, it was very reliable and only broke down once due to the clutch ratchet, i loved every minute of it but dont think they are very practical for everyday use, and not just that if they were all used everyday there would not be any left!!! however i did have a series one which i used everyday which was completely standard but broke down all the time!!!!! so RSi's are more reliable.... sometimes!!!! the one i used everyday was for sale on e bay recently white one with 17 inch spokes and white leather trim, the recent owner had doen this to it not me!!! you might have seen it
