Default de cat on rs 2000 mk6

Thinking of putting a de cat on my car does it make much of a diffrence in power or does it just sound as if it does. Thanks

I have tried it in the past on a lot of cars and measured them on a rolling road.
Usually it gives you 0 (Zero) to 1 (One) bhp extra. Without any other changes to the engine pretty useless, except when the current cat is blocked.

It doesnt really release any extra horses but it does change the note of the exhaust
I would advise fitting a complete stainless system, the engine will breathe a bit better as stock exhaust is restrictive. Ull like the note change of the exhaust,

Thanks for the replys the reason i asked is because someone told me to find out about putting a de cat on before i do it as it might lose power and i dont want that as it hasnt got that much to start with.

without the superchip it would fail totally , it just squeezes through with it when running really hot which is a relief

no point in having a decat if running with a stock system tbh as its pretty restrictive, the decat can be fitted onto the std manifold ok , what was mentioned was to have your original manifold modded to remove the APS to get the most out of your exhausts air flow but you dont have to, and run with a power/superchip 164 ish is a easy target

you may be lucky if running a decent chip to aid better fueling, when I first took mine for a mot it was way up, then fitted a superchip and and it squeezed through

Mot regs change next year, it will be a fail if the cat is not fitted on a car that it should be even if it passes the emission test
