Any engine fits. Its just the amount of effort your going to have to put into it. What sort of power are you looking for?

Lol.

Depends on budget.

If you got the cash you can fit anything. Best bet and probably easiest is the Mk1 Mondeo 2.0l Zetec

should be able to reach 140bhp with some well thought out mods on the standard 115 stock unit, without going into mega money with a turbo unit

but for the money your going to spend to reach that 140bhp is by far cheaper to buy a standard rs2000 engine and fit it with no hassle or problems. i paid £100 for my last one!

yeah if it was off the shelf parts I agree ,recently done the required mods on one of these engines all for the sum of £20 using salvage parts from breakers

Will the RS2000 engine fit though without any major hassle though? Doubt it, probably easier to mod what you already have

yes it does. just swap everything from one to the other. same car diff engine and gearbox setup.....
you can run the zetec ib5 box if you just want the engine and not bothered about box and suspension just use a zetec flywheel and clutch.

I put a Subaru EJ257 in my R-Reg GTi, but it wasn't exactly straightforward, lol.....

Easiest and most cost-effective is a 2.0 Zetec-E as said.

Makes more of a difference in reality than the figures on paper would suggest, although the standard 1.8 Zetec-E makes for an easier/cheaper base for a "budget" Zetec Turbo.

Changing to a 2L Zetec is alot of hassle for a 15BHP gain just use the throttle body MAF sensor cams and ecu from said 2L easy swap and should give power output of around 150-160hp

quite simple the 2l throttle body is a direct fit but with a larger butterfly allowing more air but need the maf and ecu to control the fuel its basically modding the engine with standard parts
