Default 1997 Ford Escort LX

Can't find my car on the list but hope someone can help. The revs on the car are sticking. As soon as I turn the ignition the revs go up and don't come down until I break and become stationary then they go low and shoot up again when I drive and stay that way until I break again. My mechanic has it at the moment and says it is perplexing him as it is not any of the problems he thought it may have been. He is a good guy who I have used several times so if anybody has any clue as to what the problem may be that would be great and then I can speak to him again. He has looked at the speed sensor and has confirmed that's not the problem but I can't remember what else he said he looked at.

Almost certain to be ISCV sticking and is not an uncommon problem, easy enough to sort just remove and clean and lubricate again with WD40 or any other light lubricant.

The other sensor he probably has looked at is the CTS which tells the ECU coolant temperature info.
