It hasn't got a servo?? i thought all MK3's had servo's, i only ever seen old cortina's without servo's and you could buy kits to convert em.

What year is your car, sounds like youve got an early base model there, 1.1L maybe??

Do you have many drilled holes on the passenger side where the servo mounting brackets would be? Maybe you could pull the linkage and servo out of a mk4 RST/XR3i and fit the whole lot, you'll probrably have to get new brake pipes made up to reach it.

On the other hand if you could get hold of a servo and linkage from a LHD escort you could possibly be able to adapt that, but there could be clearance issues

Put some pics up of the engine bay, im wondering whether an RS1600i servo could be adapted to fit as theyre bolted directly to the bulkhead

keep it like it is!one of the reason why the brakes are so poor on the mk3 is because of the servo and master cylinder being on the pass side with all that linkage

i guess it wouldn't make to much difference it would just make the brakes feel better with one

Its the very early ones only that don't have servo's, before 83 and im pretty sure its only the lesser models that didn't have them (the slow ones lol)

GraphiteGray, *i think* all the shells have the mountings, there will just be a blank plate welded in on the passenger side

Yer well if your planning putting anything bigger in you might wana get a servo

Might be a lil bit scary to drive otherwise

Yep its the 1.1's that didn't have a servo, and as has also been said it should have the correct drillings on the bulkhead to fit a linkeage and servo to it.
The mk4 servo mounting brackets are different, so don't go to all the trouble of taking one off a mk4 thinking they're the same!
Also, avoid the RS1600i linkeage, its not half as efficient as the standard mk3 Escy type
