Default rs1600i spoliers absorbing water?

my spoiler on my car keeps absorbing water like a sponge, if i open the boot it wont stay up withthe lifters due to the weight where its soaking up water, i removed it asd it wasnt very well fitted and it was saturated u could squeeze water out of it, is this a normal thing with them or do they need treating with a water proofer or something? cheers

Yeh i think they do absorb a bit of water, never really noticed on mine, dont worry about the struts too much thats a common problem on RSis due to the weight of the spoiler

You could try an exterior trim restorer like back to black on it as that seems to repel the water
