Body Fat Monitors.... mega deal
Been looking for a body fat monitor recently (I know about hydration effects etc, but find calipers a real pain to use)
And for anyone thinking of a set, LLoyds pharmacy are doing a mega deal... a proper handheld one for £4.99
http://www.lloydspharmacy.co.uk/home...at_monitor.htm
picked one up from my local Lloyds today, £20 off

Sound......theres a Lloyds Pharmacy on my way home from where I am today....I'll post results later!!!
I can see this being a useful tool against the girlfriends accusations....
'You're getting fat & going all cuddly'
'No I'm not....the £4.99 body fat computer says NOOOOOOO'

serious question...are these really accurate for very large people (22stone)? will they give a realistic result. i'm keen to know mine as i would guess with my body frame 5ft5 and 21-22stone it could be pretty high although i do lift weights, cycle etc.

Classic....went into Lloyds...clocked the monitor straight away with a price tag underneath for £24.99!!!
Anyway...picked it up & went to the counter and the conversation went something like this....
Me...........'Can I buy this for a fiver please'
Women....'Sorry?'
Me...........'Can I buy this monitor for a fiver please'
Women....'Erm...no its £24.99'
Me...........'Are you sure?'
Women....'Yes....look'
She scans in the item & it shows up £24.99... I'm thinking....I look like a right prick ere now....the she presses some magic button & it flashes up £4.99!!!
Women....'£4.99 please' (looking very confused as if I'd rigged the system somehow)
I let her keep the penny for her troubles & legged it out the door before she changed her mind!!!
Anyway....apparently my fat ratio is 21%, my body mass index is 24.6 & the number of calories I need to keep my body functionning is 1696.
So basically I am very close to being slightly overweight.....wheres that bike!!!!

Big welshlad,
They are pretty accurate but are affected by hydration, so follow the instructions carefully with regards not drinking for 30mins first and not straighht after gym etc.. as with any tool, as long as it gives a repeatable result for YOU, then its fine regardless of what figures it shows. I expect most humans hydration levels are reasoably constant, especially towards bedtime, where it suggests you take the measure.

Just to give you some indication pro bodybuilders can get to sub 5% I believe.
I know I am between 20-25% depending on the time of year.
If you aim for 15% for a bloke you will be looking damn good.

Picked mine up.
Did have a slight worry when the till flashed up £24.99 before changing to £4.99.
I've now lost just over 2 stone in weight since I "became single"!
27% fat and a BMI of 27.5.
So I'm getting there.
Roll on the warmer weather when I will get out on the bike a bit more!
But already feel better for it.
Mike
