Default Make your own protein bars!!

Right, get your cooking hats on!! I have tried loads of these and eventualy came up with these about a year ago, so thought I would share with you all.

They are good for low carb diets as they are high in Protein "20g per bar"

Not as good as Mars but better for you, and less sugar and cheaper than the protein bars on the market. I think the people that will appreciate these are those that train for results, all the others will know doubt spit them out and go back to the Mars bars

You will need a baking tin of approx 8" square. and coat it with non sticking spray or similar.

Heat your oven to 160.

Put 100g of peanut butter in a round microwavable tub and heat for 20 secs to melt.

Add 60g of oats, any make will do.

Add 135g Apple sauce.

Add two tablespoons of cocoa powder.

Crack in 8 egg whites "NO YOKES" and mix all ingredients together.

When all mixed together and try not to put to much air in when mixing

Add 2 scoops of choc whey and mix then...

Add another 2 scoops of whey and mix.

Now pour the mixture into the 8" cooking tin and place in the oven for 7mins, then turn the tin 180 degrees and cook for a further 7-8mins depending on your oven.

TRY NOT TO COOK FOR TOO LONG OR THEY WILL DRY OUT!

Allow to cool, then ease out of tin and cut into 8 bars.

I normally put the bars in the microwave for 20secs before eating.
And store them in the fridge in a container for the week and take out for work when needed.

Nutritional info per bar; 213kcal

Protein 20g WOW
Carbs 13g mostly complex carbs with minimal sugar
Fat 9g mostly good Fat from poly and mono, low in saturated.

Hope you like, take some getting use to if your a sugar head but I'm sure some will enjoy...I do

You can still make them without the P-Butter.

So each bar will then become;

16.5 Protein
11.5 Carbs
2.75 Fat

As said before keep an eye on them and don't over cook, or they will become dry!! I heat for 20secs in microwave before eating, but not necessary....for such a small bar you will be surprised how filling they are.
