Does walking help loose weight ?
Hi, Ive just recently had a hip replacemt so all i can do really is walk and since having the replacement i've put on about 3 stone
My doctor says walking does help but i walk my dog everywhere everyday for miles and its doing nothing ?
Any ideas why ??

Sorry to here about your hip mate.
Any exercise burns calories Ben, but if you consume to many you wont loose any weight.
You need to consume 6 small regular meals every three hours through out the day to boost your matabolism which will also burn calories along with the walking.
Take your weight in stones x 14 = ? then ? x 10 = daily calories needed to loose weight.
Hope that helps as a start mate with out getting to in depth.

Unfortunately your hip may not allow you to walk fast enough to get to the right intensity.
Have you tried swimming?. Even if you don' t use your legs much you'll get a good workout from pulling yourself through the water.
This will get the heart rate up and the calories burning
