My Weight Loss And Why I've Been Missing
After a suggestion by Glenn a couple of times, I decided to make this thread. A few of will know I used to post on Pf a lot back in the day, up until recently I hadn't posted at all in 14 months. The reason I hadn't is I decided to change my life. I was having a lot of issues, I'd smoked weed for pretty much 15 years, put a lot of weight on, ended up on ant depressants, my life was a bit of a mess if I'm gonna be honest. Starting May 2012, was when the new me began. I'd been off weed for a couple of years by that point, but was heavily on anti depressants, and the heaviest weight I'd ever been, was over 20 stone. two of my best mates had been telling me for months I needed to get off the anti depressants, lose some weight, and get my arse in gear. I'd swerved the idea for months, wasn't interested. Now both of my best pals both trained MMA with the same guy, one of my pals is a doorman, and had know this MMA coach for years, worked the doors with him, my other pal, who also trained MMA with him, as he was very good Freinds with his dad, who had also worked the doors with him. They had both sang his praises to me, was in the marines, done body building, faught MMA, taught MMA, ran doors, by all accounts, what this guy didn't know about diet, training, keeping in shape etc, wasn't worth knowing, they had both told him about my situation, he had said if he wants to sort himself out and get focused, bring him down, I'll help him. Well for months they had both being trying to get me to go, I'd refused. One Thursday one of my pals comes round, says rite, I'm sick of asking, now I'm telling, we're going to brawlers tomorrow, I've booked us a private lesson, just me, you, and the coach.
So, I thought FFS, I'm going down here, 20+ stone! can't walk a mile without getting out of breath! and I've got to train with this MMA coach, marine, body builder, doorman, superman type guy, I was very nervous. So, the day after, my pal pics me up, and off we go. I was expecting this guy to be a brutal twat, who was gonna scream and shout at me, do this, do that, grrrrrrrr, that couldn't have been further from the truth, as much as you could tell the guy was extremely tough, he was very nice, and within that one hour lesson, we just hit it off, really clicked with him. I've already babbled on enough, so without making this thread a book, best decision I ever made, I stuck with him, he gave me a diet, exercise plan, what to eat, what to do, and when, 18 months later, I feel a and look like a different guy, my life is like night and day, I'm going to MMA twice a week, gym 3 times a week, out walking at least 5 miles a day, but most importantly, I'm enjoying life again, not some fat miserable hermit who barely left the house.
Rite, onto some pics, I've never been one for having my picture taken, when your 20+ stone! you don't really life seeing pictures of yourself! but this was one of the suggestions of my MMA coach when I started, take a picture diary, so you can see the changes in your body, and can see what the work/focus is doing
Me at the start, May 2012, 20+ stone

Congratulations. Looks totally transformed. Just wish I had someone to help me. I seem to be in a similar situation to yourslef apart from the weed and prescription tablets. Ive been in a downward spiral since jan 2013 when My gran who was my world died 66 days after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Coincidentally my 30th birthday. I have no motivation. Sit on my arse all day driving wagons and eat because Im bored. Eat shit and drink lager when Im at home then Go all in at weekends and party like its 1999 lol. Im always going to rejoin the gym next month and go back to kickboxing like I did in my youth. Problem is next month never comes. Congrats again mucka

fairplay mate, i lost over 5 stone in a year so know it's tough going - well done!
Now keeping it off is the hard part, although that geezer looks like he'd kick your head in if you didn't which is a reasonable incentive

And yeah, he's not the kind of guy you want to piss off, but as he says, we're not just coach/student anymore, we're mates, plus his wife invites me round for big Sunday dinners regular, so if I put any weight on, I'll blame her
Cheers Bro

And believe it or not, the weights/MMA are not really the major things that have dropped my weight, walking is. Walking is fantastic for burning fat, my coach used to walk a lot when he was in body building competitions he said, because walking burns fat, not muscle. I make sure I walk a minimum 5 miles a day, sounds like a lot, but I can do 5 miles at a steady pace, in 1hr 10m, I usually do two 2.5 mile walks, not 5 in one go, although sometimes if the weathers decent, and I'm not busy, I might a 5 mile walk, then another 2.5 miles later. I love walking, get my headphones on, and away I go, plus, I live with my fiancé, and my 4 daughters, so it's nice to get out the house and walk, bit of peace and quiet
