I Use creatine quite heavily, being involved in the sports i am, and i must say, i saw results after about 3-4 weeks after starting it, it's actually great, i also use maximuscle cyclone and the protein bars, but too be honest, the creatine is the only thing i've really used that works.

i'm using Kre-alkalyn, mainly to aid recovery, take 2 tablets before workout, and 2 after, only a week into it, and the DOMS seem to be reduced, will keep you informed of what I think about it.

Eat high protein foods and you wont need the bars, save yourself some cash.

Only so much you can absorb, after that your arse starts to stink lol

Genuinely interested to see tests results that back that up please?

I was once told the same thing, something along the lines of your body can only absorb 30grm of protein per hour, but I don't think thats proven.

As for Creatine, didn't do shit for me. Give it a try though, some people swear by it whereas others don't rate it. Depends if you have other things dialed in. Personally I think its all in the head, i.e. you think its working so you push harder. It could be a placebo but if you think it is the real thing I think the results would be the same.

Sorry but I've no idea where I read this or indeed who may of told me.

I was on 2 shakes a day and eating loads of high protein foods and came across this info some where and suddenly it all sort of made sense! Haven't touched it since and my arse smells no where near as bad lol.

Will have a google and post up my findings (if any!)

Yeah please buddy, do so.

I have seen tests done on protein consumption and those taking higher doses have seen better gains. As in double what you should take to grow. Most say 1.5g per lb of bodyweight, but studies have shown more benefit for taking double that iirc.

I'm sure there must become a point where too much is consumed to absorb but I very much doubt any of us are anywhere near that. To be fair, most are not even near the above formula.

I personally have a kilo (uncooked weight) of protein source per day (mince, chicken etc) plus 2/3 shakes so would guess I'm hitting between 3+400 grams per day. Only been doing it a couple of months but feeling the benefit and progressing now. Prior to the diet change I was just maintaining for the most part as protein was far too low.

Maybe it was all in my head or I changed something else in my diet without realising it!

Might try going back on it once I start training again next month.

I weight 14st so 196lb that's a total of 294g of protein per day or nearly 600g if doubling!

I try eat as much natural protein as possible but I have never really counted my daily intake, maybe I should pay a bit more attention and hopefully see better results.

Cant find anything on google yet that seems like I have read before.

Maybe I've just made it up.....!

Edit

closest I could find but not had time to read it all

http://www.wannabebig.com/diet-and-n...a-single-meal/

seems like they advise approx 30g protein shake per meal which can be up to 6 times a day to keep your metabolism high!

so much info and different opinions, guess its really just trial and error to see what works for you. Although the last thing you want is to put on fat instead of muscle while finding out!

You've certainly not made it up buddy as I've heard it before and remembered the amount that the article you link to refers to as the most common.

Defo trial and error. I'm not convinced that 6 meals per day is better than 3 double size ones. Also don't forget that different types of protein are digested/absorbed at different rates. It gets very indepth and for hibbybuilders such as us we would not be seeing any difference!

As for getting fat, keep the carbs low to moderate and you will be fine. Getting fat then lower carbs. Protein will not be stored as fat, providing you are taking it clean. A shake with water for example as apposed to a beef burger! Keep it simple for we are not at a level where getting anal over shit is not of any benefit to us at all! Just confuses stuff and takes the fun out of what is supposed to be a fun hobby!

Spot on!

It is just a hobby at the end of the day and should be enjoyed to the level you want it.

Very true pal, too many casual/hobby weightlifters/bodybuilders get caught up in the finer aspects of the sport, whilst forgetting the basics. eat clean and lift heavy .
