Early training...
Probably going to sound like a stupid question but i need some info on it.
Basically, i've had a change in career, gone from driving a forklift and being active all day long, to being a designer, sitting on my arse most of the day. I now finish work at 5.30pm and by the time i get changed and in to my gym (around 6) it's heaving with people and i end up only getting half a work out done. i was finishing at 3 so had a couple of hours in there.
I'm looking at changing my timing, to as soon as the gym opens - 6am. Trouble is, is that i don't know what i should or shouldn't be doing. Should i eat before i go, do i need to drink anything specific etc ? (considering i'd get up about 5.30am to be at the gym for 6) Am going to start out on cardio again to get rid of some of my excess weight, before i start on weights !
Thanks in advance.

As above.
Tho when you come to doin your weights I'd get up and have my breakfast as normal as trainin at that time in the mornin is hard enough without doing it on an empty stomach.good plate of oats, banana, shake and coffee then off to the gym.i find caffiene tabs good if you don't like coffee.

So my gyms opening time is actually 6.30am, only giving me about 1 hour 15 mins in there.
Being as i want to lose weight, would it be worth me doing only cardio ? or is doing weights as well a better alternative? (i want to get back on the weights for some definition) i will be going every week day morning, so can alternate between weights and cardio (have read that doing both in the same session is pointless?) will be adding swimming to the list too in the not too distant future !

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I would eat about 45 mins before training as empty stomach cardio is counterproductive for certain people. Got lots to do with glycogen levels fat storage etc etc. considering you haven't eaten for maybe 8 hours your glycogen will be massively depleted and then you hit a empty stomach cardio session the first and easiest energy store the body will reap is muscle. If your planning on putting on and keeping some muscular size eat before cardio to level out the glycogen stores.

My training is split, cardio in the mornings before breakfast with just a quick black coffee then my oats afterwards. I then do weights when i get in from work, seems to working fine for me at the minute.

Thought i'd throw an update in here...
i've only been getting 1 hour sessions in during the week, so i've been doing a quick 'lap' of the weights room for 30 mins and then 30 mins swimming. I've also stopped eating as much junk food.
I've lost 7LB since Thursday 12/4 (was 14.4, now 13.11)
It's quite weird, because i actually feel motivated and energetic at work now too
