Ive watched my Mum diet, and do it all by the book and it didn't work, its not bullshit, im not getting into an arguement about it!! lol

I don't wish to argue, as I'm no expert. However, I went to school with a girl who told me similar, and I asked her to let me look at her diet before she had a band fitted, and she agreed. I put her on something like:

Oats for breakfast.
Tin of tuna and a little sweet potatoe for lunch.
A banana inbetween
Some chicken breast and loads of steamed veg for tea
And then an apple while watching the soaps.

She lost an astounding 9 pound in no time at all, and never even exercised. Then she said as the weight was coming down nicely she changed the breast for chicken drummers and beans, the tuna for fish fingers and mash or something and the fruit for some yoghurt and it all went Pete Tong and she's back where she started.

Well that's of someone who changed their diet, for months even years my mum has dieted, She was joined to slimming world/weight watchers the lot, the gym, everything and trust me it didn't work or change ANYTHING!

I know its hard to believe when you have personally seen it!

Caz, please please get over what has happened to other people, stop listening to anecdotal evidence.

You should be proud you have taken the hardest step - actually starting to do something about it.

You need to start working out what your daily maintenance calories are and then eating slightly under that level. However you need to be eating the right things.

Also cardio inst the be all and end all of women, you should also be lifting (it doesnt have to turn you into a butch bodybuilder), you can improve your muscle tone and tighten up the skin thats being loosened by the weight loss.

A couple of links for some good reading

http://brainoverbrawn.com/get-the-book/ - free PDF, also has a section about women/lifiting

It's not just whats happened to other people, its what is in my genetics!

I am proud of myself, and im doing really well and extremely well that Im proving them wrong! Ive lost 11lb in 3 weeks and am extremely proud of myself!

I did a "bodypump" class this week, which if you dont know what that is its a les mills class, involving weights! It does routines to music working all the muscle groups using weights on a bar, and also hand weights! I really enjoyed and I certainly felt it for a few days afterwards

I have been reading up on loads of websites etc so am becoming quite knowledgeable(sp) about what Im doing and what to do and what not to do etc,

I will have a look at those links when I have a little bit more time as need to sort a few problems with my car in a mo!

Cheers

Training is my first love, I will shortly be aquiring a personal trainer qualification. Sorry if I sound like I've got the hump, I haven't, I just don't like people recieving bad advice. You can get quite ill and recieve some irreversable injuries. You only get one body, you gotta love it.
Lets see some pics of you? As you must be in bloody good shape????

Caz, can you post up your daily diet?

For example: From what you ate as soon as you woke up yesterday right until you went to sleep?

I know you have done well but what you have lost so far (9+pounds) is mostly water retention, to keep doing it and to make sure you dont end up Ill or hurt yourself a Proper diet is needed.

I dont mind helping.

My wife lost 8 stone in 8 months with my help and she did it safely.

You're proving the doctor was an idiot... I was thinking, if you're mum is in the same boat, why not take her with you? Well done by the way, that's awesome.

I have already suggested it to her, but she wont, she reckons she is doing fine as she is, but then she had a gastric bypass so the hard works been done for her!!

Thank you

Let her get on with it then. At least sometimes you can have a full on cheat meal and pig out without it being a problem.
