Default How Dedicated Are You?

I was just wondering how often do you all go the gym? Do you stick to it vigerously, or do you go for a few weeks and then not for a week, and then a week and miss it for months etc. I guess it's not all about dedication. Some will have other commitments, and things like a family. I have days were I can't train because I've hurt my wrist or something, getting out the car like a divvie' and things, which is partly down to my brittle bone, but I still go and help out. I've met loads of new friends I train with, and I still go even when I'm not too good and give them a touch. Hopefully as I get better I'll be able to train a lot more, and I will one day be massive!

Benni.

I'd say very.

Went from 6 days, sometimes 7 days a week, down to 5 now. Mon-Fri I go after work, wouldnt miss it for anything really, very rarely do i miss a day.

However... the other week I went and spent £200 on an exercise bike with the intention of doing some AM cardio 4x a week... i've done it 4 times in 2 weeks i think Just cannot be fucked getting up 40mins early or whatever. I look at it as 40mins extra sleep. Really need to get the finger out and do it, its supposed to be the business for fat loss, just cant get motivated at that time

Other than that though, getting to the gym after work is easy, i loves it.

Diet wise, again, mon-fri i'm bang on it, rarely cheat or drink. Come weekends though, i fall off the wagon a wee bit, drinking and/or eating shite. Wee brothers birthday on friday so i lived of birthday cake and sweets all weekend pretty much.

I know what you mean about the cardio. I completely hate it. It's very repetitive and very boring. I bought a thing to go on my bike to make it an excersize one, I've used it twice.

not missed more than 4 consequtive days int he last 9 years, most was 4 days and that was due to beiong hospoitalised with a knackered pancreas. Diet consists of just food and as much as I can get my hands on, dont eat anything greasy and have limited amounts of essential fats but that is about as controlled as it gets. Train every morning mon to friday, cardio consists of weekend mountain biking (weather permitting) in llandegla forest but really enjoy circuit training in Deeside. I find machines boring for cardsio, the circuit training seems to be a good balance of weights and vigarous exercise keeping youtr mind occupied

Cardio machines are boring, but that biking you do sounds like mega fun.

I aim to go 5 days a week after work. However as I've said on here time and time before I don't live the lifestyle. I have a young son and other priorities so if I miss the gym I don't worry too much. Last week for instance I trained twice and this week will be 3 times. Mind you December is full of socialising through work. I normally only miss the gym through tiredness (boy keeping me awake at night) and injury.

A week off here and there doesn't hurt at all imho. Gives you time to relax and let your enthusiasm build back up again.

I only train 3 days a week but it works for me. Mon - Push, Wednesday - Pull, and Fri - Legs. But do 50 push ups or 50 sit ups (alternating between days) every morning. Not getting enough Cardio in at the moment which is stange as I love running when its cold/pissing down.

exactly the same here, maybe not the exact same days but a 3 day split of push, pull, legs over a week. When I was younger I soon found out that training any more was detrimental and when doing 5 days a week I was losing muscle rather than putting it on, as a rule for natural people 3 a week is enough (obviously not talking cardio here). Cardio is bad for your heart so I've been told

Same here. I'm seeing better gains now training HARD for an hour, 3 times a week than I was training pretty much everyday. Before I could spend 2 hours doing weights and feel fine, now when my hours up im piss wet through and know I've been training.

My push day consist of dumbell press (one week incline, next flat, then decline), dumbell flyes, shoulder press, dips and tricep pushdown with rope. Then pull day is deadlift, seated row, chins, bicep curl and standing barbell raises/shrugs. Basically on push day you use all the muscles associated with pushing and then pull day all the pulling muscles. Its a nice way to split things up so they get a right good hammering as the muscles tend to be used together in them movements, they get a full week to recover and they dont affect the following workout, so when your chest is all aching it wont affect your pull day anyway allowing you to get the most out of each workout. Out of all the systems Ive ever tried this one has always put me most size on and definately most strength.

I like to do it where I do a body part. So chest and bicep one day, tricep and shoulders the next and so on. I'm gaining good size, but when I fancy a change I think I'll try that.

My days are split like this;

Monday - Pull
Deadlifts
Barbell bent-over rows
French Presses
Dumbell Curls
Hammer Curls

Wednesdays - Push
Flat Bench
Barbell military press
Skull crushers
Dambell lateral raises
Arnold presses

Friday Legs
Deadlifts
barbell squats
Barbell lunges
Good mornings
and pull ups.

I mix it up every now and again if I'm bored though. Like I'll do wrist curls rather than barbell curls, dips instead of pushups or chin ups, high pulls or upright rows rather than bent over etc.

If i was you i would drop deadlifts from legs day - unless they are stiff legged ones? Surely you must be fucked after deadlifts then having to squat aswell! Good mornings and pull ups aint really leg exercises? And remember calves!

Push/Pull/Legs has always interested me but never done it as yet. Dunno whether i'd like it though.

I'm limited to what I can do on leg days right now, as I have a gym at home, but haven't got a suitable rack to do any proper weight with my squats. I'm going to make a rack when I'm bored over x mas.

thats what i did when i went to the gym several times a week, very basic system of the pull/push thing imo (from what the bigger lads told me)

i did it because it was easier and with me being young it ment i wasnt dying the next day.

i usually get really into it for a week or 2 then drop out for a month or more, because i end up missing a day then have no motivation after that or i hurt myself doing something so i cant train when i want to

as sais above 5 days a week rearly miss my dasy but if i do i'll make them up on my days off

monday chest, tris cardio
tuesday back, bis cario
wednesday off (maybe abs and cardio)
thursdays shoulders, traps cardio
fridays bi's tri's forarms cardio
saturday (am) legs, abs

train hard using forced reps on most things so a day off after chest and back is essential for shoulder recover i find

My Dedication is through the roof again,It has been VERY Good last 2 years but i did take it alot easier last 6 months and only trained 4 days a week.

Im now back training 6 days per week and doing alot of morning cardio too.

I tried to get myself ready for a bodybuilding comp this year but it fucked my head up.(full story here:https://passionford.com/forum/fitnes...-my-story.html )

I Am well ahead of the game compared to what i was at the start of this year and still gaining bloody good size while keeping the bodyfat low.

My Motivation is unreal just now and no matter what i beast it twice a day at the gym Mon-Sat and still LOve it.

Come 2nd week in jan the diet will begin on the run up to the first comp in April.

I CANT WAIT

Recent Pic and still loads more gains to come but for those that saw my previous posts will notice some good changes and alot more shape

A training partner is good. I am the gym slag and will train with anyone. Howevere, I do meet people there to train with. Some not as strong as me which pushes me to show off, as such. Some who are way stronger than me who push me to man up, as such. 'Are you warming up on that, son?' When I think I am about to do a great lift which makes me add more. We also have an absolute scream at the gym, it's like going to a comedy show too.

Like yesteday when I was doing tricep dips and someone put a 1kg weight on my legs, as that's all I could handle. We was all roaring laughing like morons, but damn it was funny. So I guess I don't need motivation as it's such a laugh. They always get me to do pressups as I can't do them, and move my arse up and down and my hands don't move. 'Oh fuck, Ben's shagging the floor again'. And we are off. However, I have noticed all the jokes are aimed at the one person... Me!

Benni.

Zero dedication,
Due to other reasons I dont have much motivation at the moment but try and go and do 2 or 3 times a week Cardio, Just on the thinking if I go when I cant be arsed then it will be more enjoyable when I can be arsed.

Only just had a proper look in this fitness room, might start getting invloved..

I only go to the gym twice a week, but im not a fat cnut and ive always had good legs and arms etc.

What id like to know tho is when it comes to burning calories, whats better, legging it on the runner or getting on the cycling machines? I always enjoy sticking the ipod on and running. but would give cycling a go if it'll help more.

cheers

Just joined a gym today. Going to start going after work I am very unfit and over weight. I am 6ft 2" and around 18 1/2 stone. To be honest I am very worried about getting back into it. My issue is not knowing what to do. Will I hit the cardio only for a while? or will I start doing weights as well. Doing the weights is the most worrying for me as weight rooms can be a awkward place heres me an over weight guy coming in and its full of buffed up lads. Anyway wish me luck
