Do you actually know how much muscle it is possible for the human body to put on in a year? Naturally.

i think the human body can put on around 12 pounds of muscle a year if there diet is perfect training is perfect and sleep is perfect. so for most people it would probably be less than half that

Really? I dont doubt it, but if thats the case, then why can people put on so much size, without really getting fat? At my weight, i doubt i need to worry too much about bulking anyway, but its nice to know.

Surely though, all your doing is toning by doing more reps. Thats how i have always seen it.

To actually bulk up and get proper bigger you need to lower reps and more weight, like 8 repatitions, instead of say 10 - 12.

Thats how i have always known, could be wrong though.

By eating alot more you are bound to gain a bit more weight i reckon, its just how it goes when bulking up. That's why people bulk for say 8 weeks then cut for 8 weeks.

*EDIT* Just re read that and you said the same, you will gain fat if you want to bulk up loads. I would just stick to how you are and carry on with the hard work. It can't happen over night.

if u try and bulk and stay toned then u end up doin neither, bulk then cut, forget the more reps crap,u cant grow if ur burning calories, eat big lift big grow big,its as simple as that

do u even know how much calories u take in just now in a day?????

I'm somewhere between Ecto and Mesomorph, and no matter how much I eat I cannot put on anything other than muscle. So basically if I don't train, I don't gain anything at all. My body does respond well to training though.

Everyone's different, and you need to adapt your training to suit what's best for you, but one thing's for sure: low reps with the heaviest weight possible while still maintaining form builds muscle.

Here's a link for anyone interested in body types, and finding out what theirs is - http://www.forumextractor.com/post/1010360.html

Or you could always just google it...there are plenty of sites with that info.

If you wan't to bulk. From the little I've learnt more weight, less reps.

Benni.
