Default Started getting a pain in my shoulder...

It was always a tiny bit dodgy before I started training but now after about 10 weeks its become extremely painful. Having rested for a week it still hurts and I have to work through a pain barrier int he gym, which is obviously a bad idea as pain is the body's warning system.

Any ideas? The pain seems to be over the top of the shoulder, towards the collar bone and down the back....

I`m the same, hurt it when doing shoulder press, if you have a bad joint like we seem to, bringing the weight down to your chest puts too much stress on the shoulder joint. I only bring it down to my chin, one of the older guys in my gym told me that. I`m going for sports massage too to get it sorted.

What side is the pain bud?

Any muscle pain is a real sod to find out what has caused it and what will take the pain away. I tore my left pec muscle 8 years ago, could not train my chest for 6 months, the pain was horrific.

Without seeing you its very difficult to help. The only thing i can suggest is by gently raising your arm on the side your injury is. Raise it from your waist keeping your arm locked straight until your arm is at head height then down again. If you were to do this fast it would look like a bird wing flapping, if you can picture the exercisenow?!! But its to be done slowly for 7 reps, 2 min break then another 5 reps then stop. Do this 5 times a week leaving out say Monday and Thursday. Also get some Radox and chuck it in your bath and soak with shoulders under the water for 20 mins, this is to be done daily. Also get some Tiger Balm and rub it onto the painfull area twice daily for 1 week.......see how you feel this time next week. Where abouts are you mate?

Sounds like you all have rotator cuff injuries to me. Its easily done when doing shoulders and a nightmare to heal, its one of those injuries that may always give you hassle especially pressing movements above youre head. Whatever you do dont try to train through it as you might scupper the chance of repairing it. Go to see a good physio and get them to check it out for you, a far better alternative than the doctor as he or she'll say take two of these and call me in the morning
