Default ****Paul's Protein Bars****

Ok, here is the info you have asked for to make these bars.

For peeps that don't like P-Butter, to be honest I can't taste it anyway and as long as you don't mind the nuts they will be fine. Th P-butter boosts the protein and adds the good fats to the mixture.

The most important thing is not to over cook these or they will dry out.

The best thing is that you know what is in them unlike other bars you buy which can be loaded with hidden sugars, they don't taste like a kit kat etc but then these are whey (that was for Daves benefit )..better for you.

You will need;

8-9" Shallow Baking Tray. The new rubber ones are best,..see photo at bottom of post.
0% Cooking spray
Large Microwave safe bowl
A Tablespoon
Scales
6 Eggs
Whey
Peanut Butter
Cocoa Powder
Small jar apple sauce
Oats

& an Oven

First Pre heat oven at 160.

Ok put 100g of P-Butter in the microwave safe bowl and heat for 20secs in microwave to melt.

Crack in 6 Egg whites ""NO YOKES"".

Add two tablespoons Cocoa Powder.

Add half the small jar of Apple sauce.

Weigh in 35g Oats. (Cheap oats will do for this, I use tesco value for the bars).

Now mix together.

Once all mixed add 1 Scoop Choc Whey and mix,

then add the second scoop and mix,

then the third and mix (If you add 3 scoops together at once it's murder to mix).

Now spray the baking tray with the 0% spray so the bars wont stick and add in the mixture.

Place in the middle of the oven for 7mins then turn bars 180degrees for a further 8mins and remove to cool.

Once removed cut into 8 bars.

I keep the bars in a container in the fridge and wrap a couple in cling film for work or when out and about so you'll always have a protein snack to hand.

I some times place one in the microwave for 20 secs to eat warm.

If you can find a rubber baking tray as follows the bars just ease out nicely once cooked.

The above have Protein 16g - Carbs 10g - Fats 7g (mono & poly so good fats)

If you need more protein you could add more eggs.

If you need more carbs mash in a banana or add more oats up to you but I find the above a nice mix.

Considering the micronutrient ratio above you do actually feel like you have eaten something after one of these bars.

Hope you like the bars...they do make a change, and that you find the above info adequate to follow as I'm no Delia!!

All the best Paul

Nice one Dave,

Got four with me today along with a few other bits as I'm flying to Leeds with a mate to pick up a Merc CL55 AMG Carlesson "spelling??" it's even got a fridge in the back seat.

Just for your info matey..an extra egg white "large" will give you say 4g protein.

So you have an extra....

0.5g of protein per bar ...........every little helps!!

Anyways, good on ya for giving them a go.....did the misses faint when she clocked ya with ya piny on?? or is she still clearing the mess up.

I've just bought some Maximuscle Promax Strawberry Whey Mix - 2lb tub for Ł22.99 from Costco wholesale. Has anyone else tried this ? Can i use this to make the protein bars and add strawberrys instead of cocoa powder ?

Thanks.

I've used maximuscle promax before.

Im no expert when it comes to whats in them but I found it ok. But I find maximuscle is big on marketing and as such are a tad more expensive than some other products.

I tend to stick to Optimum Nutrition's (ON) whey protein. Their Chocolate Mint is the best I've had so far.

Thanks for the advice on the bars! Im defo gonna try some of these!

I'm gonna try them this week, but I have the cooking skills of a dead raccoon, and can burn toast. Although from the instructions, it looks like it's virtually impossible to cause food poisoning.

Have to say though, top post.

Is there anything missing off the ingredient list?

Should I be using crunchy peanut butter? Where do the nuts come into it?
