Default Over 40's - Keep fit

I'm sure there must be a few of us that are in the 40+ club.

What do you do to keep fit and to keep the middle age spread at bay?

Working! Up and down ladders, carrying stuff... I'm lucky, I can eat all day and not get fat!

Up to 60 i trained at least 3 nights a week & could still manage a 24min 5k run at that age. Then I retired from work & have done nowt for 8 years im unfit & 1.5 stone heavier learn from that get fit & then stick with it.
I have recently gone on a diet & enquired about gym membership again hence why i popped into this section. Can i regain a resonable level of fitness again, I hope so but it will be hard im sure. Trained with my son for years but looking at his training sessions now make me feel like having a heart attack .

the hard thing when you get older is keeping the weight off,I train 5 days a week and Iam nearly 46,I think diet is key when you get to a certain age along with some sort of regular exercise at least 3 times a week

This is an invaluable tool for tracking your calories. Not 100% accurate, but gives you a good idea of your calory intake and excercise.

Gym 3 times a week and cardio on my off days. Its the food intake I'm having problems with as I love my food.

Thanks for the replies.

I did try that MFP last year with a few of the guys from Scoobynet and while I did manage to lose 16lb to get to where I am now - I still need to loose at least another 7lb. It did make me very aware of what I was eating/drinking and exercise.

Without sounding like a troll, my legs and top are ok but it's the middle that doesn't want to depart at any quick rate of knots

Spin for me as well..

used to run alot but as I got older the impact started taking it's toll on my knees and hips so I try and keep up the intensity but reduce the impact on my body. I do still run but no where near the distances or pace I did when I was younger..

also being more aware of what you eat / drink is important..
