spinning?
anyone else do it on here?
ive been a lazy chap for last 20+years excercise wise and at the grand age of 43,constantly aching joints and generally feeling like shit i decided i have to get the ball rolling in an attempt to feel better and prolong my life.
my wife goes spinning regulalry and really enjoys it.she has been asking me why dont i go for a few months and last week i thought...why not?
i find that im really enjoying it,its hard and i seat buckets but i complete every session and find that im beginning to actually look forward to it.my eating has become much better and hopefully this the beginning of a new me.i go 3 times a week and am looking to do other things on the other days.i also go for a 3 hour walk on sunday mornings.i didnt weigh myself at beginning and am not really out to chase numbers, just want to feel better.

just a quick update.
with a change of diet, cutting out snacks more than anything and eating healthier meals and spinning 3 times a week i have gone down just over 1 and half stone.
i do feel healthier and i fill up with food much quicker now so never really feel hungry so steps are in the right direction.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I do three classes a week..
there's nothing better IMO at buring calories.
During a 1 hour session I can burn up 800 to 900 calories and that's reading off my own HRM not off the readout on the bike..
If you can get some SPDs it's better still as you feet are properly clipped in..

I would recommend it.. specially for the standing stuff..
basically you sit on a fancy exercise bike, not your normal gym type machine, and peddle like crazy for 30 mins or how ever long with a instuctor shouting at you to turn the resistance up peddle faster and all set to a banging tune...
it's great for fat burning, you will be mopping up puddles of sweat from the floor when your done.. Just make sure you drink plenty of water before and after if you give it a go..

just participated in the gyms charity 24 hours of fitness. couldnt do it all due to work commitments(and the fear of death!) but i managed to do 2 pilates classes at 6am/7am saturday(interesting),then 3x 1 hr classes of spinning one after the other at 7/8/9pm,then back in at 4am to do 2 more 1hr spin classes.
a great feeling and an achievement for me after only taking any sort of fitness up 6 weeks or so ago.

5 hours of spin in 12 hours.. good going..
not sure I could manage that.. I sometimes stuggle to finish an hour class but that's pretty much 50 mins of cycling at 85 to 90% hr.. feels great as I fall off the bike at the end though...
