Default Strava Spring Classics Challenge-1,319km in a month! 943km done upto now!!

Spring Classics Challenge from Specialized

Ride 1,319 kilometers in the month of April.01/04/2013 — 30/04/2013

While the world’s best professional cyclists are hammering up the bergs and bouncing over the cobblestones, Specialized and Strava challenge you to ride the cumulative distance of five of cycling’s most storied races that form the Spring Classics, adding up to a monumental total of 1,319 kilometers or 820 miles.

For those curious, here is how the math works out:

Milan-San Remo [298km] +
Tour of Flanders [256km] +
Paris-Roubaix [257km] +
Liège–Bastogne–Liège [257km] +
Amstel Gold [251km] = 1,319 kilometers

There are milestone badges to be earned at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, so set yourself a weekly Progress Goal of 330km's (or greater) and show us what you're made of!Less
The task now is to average 27 miles per day, so to make it easier i'll be trying to ramp more miles in on the following days;

Tuesday: Palefish ride with a road club = 40 miles
Thursday: Delamere ride = 60 miles or Palefish 40 dependent in weather and time on the day
Saturday and Sunday will be either a ride to Degla, Delamere or local routes. Will try and bank 65-75 per day.

As a log I have taken my weight this morning at 16 stone, will be aiming for something beginning with 14 come 31st April.

All this will be done on the new FS bike on a 32 front cog, once parts turn up for the single speed I will be using that for some mileage.

Are any other Passionford users taking part?

Thanks for reading.

Phil

Phil you love your bikes, credit to you. I'm very tempted to have a crack at road cycling.

Good miles that Bloomers, keep it up mate.

Sure do Paul, only have 1 bike at the moment which is an Orange Alpine 160 which is a heavy lump compared to my old C456.

Just need to buy the single speed bits for my old frame then start riding that on/off road.

Great time to have a crack as the weather is getting better.

I will hopefully get a bike in the very near future, just waiting for one a t a good price. Then it's about getting the motivation to get out and do something with it.

Sunshine is great, can't wait till Summer.

160 is a nice bike if it were 12-13kg it would be perfect imo.

Whats your budget Paul? New or SH?

Banked 55 miles today which was nice, wanted more though lol.

Will keep a look out for bargains for you.

What height are you?

Day 2 now and i'm at 163km, 3 mild rides tbh. Joined a local cycle club for a night ride but they averaged 13mph, little under what I needed to keep warm. Good ride never the less.

Day rest tomorrow and prep for Thursday as I intend to hit the 100 mile, Route sort of planned with 3 points of off road.
Obviously this is dependent on weather.

Thinking this...

Wirral to Cilcain
Cilcain to Ruthin off road
Ruthin to Llandegla on road
Burger stop at Llandegla One Planet
Through Llangollen to Wrexham
Wrexham to Chester
Chester Delamere
Quick 6 mile in Delamere then back to the Wirral, will then join the road club for shits and giggles as it does piss them off knowing a fat lad on a FS bike keeps up LOL

Good mileage that Andy, keep it up.

Bike sort of prepped now, just a tyre pressure check, fill the camel back and i'm off.

Setting off for 8am, should be in Cilcain for 10.30.

Can see tomorrow being a rather long day....

Cheers Phil. I didn't feel too bad. Still had energy in my legs. It was my backside that was sore!

Not had a very good couple of weeks riding as my Father is currently ill in hospital.

However I have been riding these miles...

Weighed my self Monday and I am now 15.6 so happy with that.

Intend on riding to Llandegla Saturday and dependent on ground conditions I may go over to the Pondarosa and loop Worlds End (killer climbs).

Then on Sunday I am doing this loop....

http://connect.garmin.com/course/3302955

Most likley add a few off road bits on the way home aswell.

Thanks for reading

Phil

Sure are, they have a removable lining.

Last pair did me well for over 5k miles.

You can buy the linings alone for about £20.

Had to make up a hack bike due to the other frame snapping and done 2 rides on it totalling 99 miles.

Have a few epics ready for Saturday and Sunday and hopefully finish the challenge early.

Off out now for a 4 hr ride, 2 hrs will be with a road club.
