Default core strength?

I'm after some advice and suggestions,

In short I really need to improve my core strenght, and upper body strength, I'm competing in 2 endurance mtb races in france end of July,

Im riding 3-4 times a week so visiting a gym is difficult, what I would like to do is construct a routine I can do at home, I have access to a weights bench, swiss ball, weights and cross trainer,

So any suggestions of what I need to be doing would be great

Cheers jay
