I've recently joined the newly built 'Sporting Village' in Basildon. Costs £38 a month but includes free use of the olympic size swimming pool, various fitness classes etc.

bannatynes in london, £50 per month, allows use of the local gym at home, but i use the one close to work during the week
some gyms have the flexability to tweak the fees if you show that you have looked around
nearest other gym is around £70 per month, but with upfront payment and buy 13 for price of 12 and a small arm bending they came down

I have to pay as I go due to living in London mon-fri so its £5 a sesh at muscleworks (bethnal green), awesome gym and then £4 a sesh back home. Quite expensive over the year but works out cheaper than joining both gyms.

I want to tone up, but I want to get fit as well. I mean, fuck, I'm the correct weight, but its all probably flab and not muscle.
I can walk for miles and miles, and ski for 6/7 hours a day, but walk up 3 flights of stairs I get out of breath.
As soon as I join up to a gym I will keep a work out diary on here. I loose interest after a couple of months so encouragement will be needed!

steels is good, my mate john owns it, he also does a bit of boxing there.
if you wanna bulk up that would be a good place to go and not far from you.
theres also the cheap gym over at valley park by vue cinema, its £15 a month but its a bit (very) ghetto and is a no fuss place.
