Here is a website I found for you. Interesting read. I never really thought about grip strength until now.

In my opinion as your weights progress your grip strength will progress too. As I see it say your deadlifting, you start at a light weight and build up so your grip will get progressively stronger as your other muscles do. I have had no problems ever with grip.

Surely forearm curls are the best way to improve your grip...
Or you could buy one of these:

I've never had any problems with grip, but i climb quite a bit so my tendon strength and endurance is pretty good.

My reply was a bit blunt so I appologise for that. I typed out my reasons on another thread on here for someone and it was ignored so I didn't bother elaborating again.

Anyway, I don't know if you do wear straps while training back etc but if you do, try training without. The only exercises I use straps for are shrugs and deadlifts. Nothing else. Yes at first your grip will tire before you back does but you will soon build up strength and it wont even come into it. I spose I was lucky as I never wore straps when some of my training partners etc did and they now always have to wear them for pulldowns and rowing etc.

Also, the exercise of holding the weights out to train them?? I don't really get what you are doing but the image I have in my head of what I think it is would burn out shoulders before your grip goes. Try picking up weights as if your going to do shrugs and just holding them, arms relaxed? Hold the weight over the rack until your hands give and let the weights drop onto the support.
